Install Qlik Sense Server with Bundled PostgreSQL

Deploy and Configure Qlik Sense

Overview

This guide walks you through installation process of Qlik Sense server with bundled installation of PostgreSQL.

Bundled installation of PostgreSQL is easy to install but is limited when it comes to upgrading it to a newer version. Having gone through an upgrade of a bundled installation of PostgreSQL, I recommend installing Qlik Sense with a standalone installation of PostgreSQL.

Still, if you have a need or preference for a bundled installation of PostgreSQL for your Qlik Sense server, this guide will show you how to get Qlik Sense installed with a bundled installation of PostgreSQL.

In this guide, you will learn:

  • Process for installing Qlik Sense server.

  • Meaning of terms like cluster and node.

  • Different Qlik Sense licensing models and steps for activating Qlik Sense with corresponding licensing model.

Prerequisites

There are four prerequisites that you need to have in order to successfully install and activate Qlik Sense server:

  • Service account with admin privileges that will be used to install Qlik Sense and to run Qlik Sense services.

  • Shared folder that will be used to house Qlik Sense apps, logs, app contents, etc.

  • Qlik Sense license.

  • Browser to administer Qlik Sense.

If you have those four things ready, you're all set to get Qlik Sense server installed. Let's get started!

Summary

Done!

You have successfully installed Qlik Sense server! Not only that but hopefully some of the terms used in the installation process make more sense now and there's more clarity around creating vs. joining clusters, creating bundled vs. connecting to a standalone PostgreSQL, and activating Qlik Sense using different licensing models.

Now that you have Qlik Sense up and running, the next set of lessons will show you how to install a patch to take advantage of bug fixes and enhancements available for your Qlik Sense server. Steps showing how to install a patch are covered in the next lesson. I'll see you there!
